Associate Director Global Procurement

Ireland - Hybrid / Remote

An expanding global pharmaceutical organisation is seeking an experienced procurement and sourcing leader to join its international sourcing function as Associate Director Global Procurement & Sourcing.

Over the last decade, the organisation has experienced significant global growth through product innovation, successful launches and strategic acquisitions, resulting in substantial revenue growth and an extensive commercial product portfolio. With a strong development pipeline and continued investment across the business, the company is now strengthening its global sourcing capability following a recent acquisition.

This is a senior strategic role within the global supply chain organisation, focused on leading sourcing and contracting activities across direct materials and external supplier partnerships within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing sourcing strategies, leading complex supplier negotiations and managing critical commercial agreements with new and existing global suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic sourcing and supplier management activities across direct materials categories including API, drug substance, drug product and packaging
  • Develop and implement global sourcing strategies aligned with commercial and operational objectives
  • Lead contract negotiations and commercial agreements to optimise value, service, quality and risk management
  • Manage supplier relationships and support ongoing supplier performance and contract governance
  • Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, Technical Operations, Legal, Finance and Commercial teams
  • Support supplier selection, market intelligence gathering and sourcing project execution
  • Drive sourcing initiatives that strengthen supply continuity, compliance and long-term supplier partnerships
  • Contribute to the development of robust sourcing and contracting frameworks across the organisation

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience within global procurement and sourcing in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical sector
  • Strong background managing direct materials sourcing within a regulated environment
  • Significant experience leading supplier negotiations and complex contracting activities
  • Demonstrated success delivering strategic sourcing projects on a global basis
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability across international teams
  • Knowledge of GMP and regulated pharmaceutical supply chains highly desirable
  • Commercially astute with strong analytical and communication skills
