Packaging Technologist (Artwork - Pharmaceutical)

  • Participate and manage the new product introduction project in relation to optimized packaging solutions as well as planning and supervising production trials
  • Lead continuous improvement and standardisation opportunities of packaging component rationalisation
  • Prepare packaging drawings and specifications and liaise with artwork department and manufacturing line in relation to specific requirements (GMP, 21 CFR and ISO standards)
  • Create and review packaging and devices documentation such as protocols and reports, QC specifications and regulatory documents
  • Manage and investigate packaging complaints and manufacturing issues related to packaging components and customer complaints
  • Provide technical expertise on the pack format, material selection, functionality testing, transportation testing and testing of critical quality attributes
  • Evaluate component functionality, machine compatibility and performance on line, including the coordination and execution of line trials where required
  • Evaluate proposed changes to vendor processes, packaging components or filling/packing processes in relation to the impact on the product quality, safety, efficacy, stability, performance on-line or waste reduction
  • Participate in the identification and implementation of new packaging or devices technology as required for new or existing products
  • Work with packaging and device vendors to help identify and eliminate variables in their processes that result in downtime issues on our production lines and customer complaints, resulting in cost saving opportunities
  • Provide technical support related to packaging or delivery devices, including participating in problem-solving teams and driving problem resolution


  • Third Level Degree in Science, Engineering or related subject
  • Previous experience in Packaging/Artwork role within a Pharmaceutical company is ESSENTIAL
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP's and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisation skills, attention to detail and structured approach to work
