Specification Technologist

Next Generation are currently recruiting an enthusiastic Specification Technologist for a well-known leading food manufacturing company based in Co. Kildare.

We are seeking someone who will be responsible for maintaining the product specifications and ensuring that food products meet the high standards of quality and safety.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their career in a food manufacturing company. This is a permanent, full time role.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date product specifications in accordance with company and regulatory requirements and ensure all raw materials and finished products meet specifications and comply with quality and safety standards
• Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies and participate in external and supplier audits, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and safety
• Review and approve artwork and packaging materials to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements
• Maintain a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to food safety, quality, and labelling
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of all documentation related to specifications, quality control, and auditing activities
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful launch of new products and/or changes to existing products

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field
• 3 years + experience in a food manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of quality control and regulatory requirements
• Knowledge of HACCP, BRC, and/or other relevant food safety and quality management systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and strong attention to detail
• Experience in conducting internal audits is preferred
• Knowledge of food legislation and labelling regulations in the UK and/or Ireland
• Experience with retailer specifications systems and food product development processes and project management
• Experience with risk assessment and management processes and supplier management and auditing processes
• Experience with food safety management systems
• Familiarity with food laboratory testing methods and equipment
