Specifications Technologist / Internal Auditor

Location: Naas, Co. Kildare
Contract: Permanent
Salary: €42,000 per annum (approx.)


Overview

A great opportunity for a Specifications Technologist / Internal Auditor to take ownership of product specifications and ensure food products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. This role plays a key part in maintaining regulatory standards while supporting continuous improvement across the business.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate, up-to-date product specifications in line with regulatory and internal requirements
  • Ensure all raw materials and finished products meet required quality and safety standards
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards
  • Support and participate in external audits
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain accurate and compliant documentation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in quality and food safety
  • Review and approve artwork and packaging to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Participate in supplier audits and assessments
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of food legislation, labelling, and industry standards
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all documentation related to specifications and audits
  • Support new product development and product changes from a compliance perspective

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of quality control and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of HACCP, BRC, and other food safety systems
  • Experience with retailer specification systems (e.g., Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and analytical skills
  • Experience conducting internal audits (preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of food legislation and labelling regulations (UK/Ireland)
  • Experience with food product development and project management
  • Familiarity with risk management tools (e.g., FMEA)
  • Supplier management and auditing experience
  • Experience with food safety systems such as ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, or BRC
  • Understanding of food laboratory testing methods and equipment
