Specifications Technologist / Internal Auditor

Overview
A great opportunity for a Specifications Technologist / Internal Auditor to take ownership of product specifications and ensure food products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. This role plays a key part in maintaining regulatory standards while supporting continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain accurate, up-to-date product specifications in line with regulatory and internal requirements
- Ensure all raw materials and finished products meet required quality and safety standards
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards
- Support and participate in external audits
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain accurate and compliant documentation
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in quality and food safety
- Review and approve artwork and packaging to ensure regulatory compliance
- Participate in supplier audits and assessments
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of food legislation, labelling, and industry standards
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all documentation related to specifications and audits
- Support new product development and product changes from a compliance perspective
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of quality control and regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of HACCP, BRC, and other food safety systems
- Experience with retailer specification systems (e.g., Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, etc.)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and analytical skills
- Experience conducting internal audits (preferred)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of food legislation and labelling regulations (UK/Ireland)
- Experience with food product development and project management
- Familiarity with risk management tools (e.g., FMEA)
- Supplier management and auditing experience
- Experience with food safety systems such as ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, or BRC
- Understanding of food laboratory testing methods and equipment
Additional Information
- Some travel may be required
- Must have eligibility to work in Ireland
