When did you start in Next Generation?

I started in Next Generation in April 2014- seems like a lifetime ago.

What is your area of expertise?

I cover multiple areas to include Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations and Quality. I have taken on more under my remit over the years I have been here. I was lucky to be given the opportunity to build my own desk and bring on my own clients. I do a lot of work in the Food Manufacturing Industry- which I love and wouldn’t change for the world. I find it really fascinating.

What was your last role?

I worked in outbound and inbound sales for a company in Waterford. I definitely think the sales element of the previous role helped me with the relationships I have built with a lot of my clients.

Why did you want to be a recruitment consultant?

One of my friends suggested recruitment to me. She was working in recruitment at the time- we sat down and she asked me the elements I enjoyed about my previous role and the parts I did not like. She thought based on our conversation that recruitment would be a good fit for me. When I was offered the position at Next Generation I jumped at the opportunity and it is the best thing I could have picked.

What is your advice for someone starting their career in recruitment?

Research your market as much as you can. The more you know about your industry the more credibility and respect you gain from candidates and clients. Both feel more comfortable knowing they are in the safe hands with someone who knows the market.

What is your favourite part of your role?

Talking- I regularly clock up 3 or 4 hours phone time every day without even noticing talking to candidates and clients. I also enjoy learning about new companies, I am a bit of a geek- I like learning about new manufacturing processes.

What makes Next Generation a Great Place to Work for you?

You are given full autonomy quite quickly in here. You are given the opportunity to build out your own desk and it is up to the individual what they decide to do with that.

What would you tell a potential applicant about Next Generation?

Come in prepared to work hard. There is no limit to how much money you can make in here but it takes a lot of effort and you need to be determined.

If you were to describe Next Generation in 3 words, what would they be?

Progressive, Energetic and fun

What is a fun fact about you?

I really enjoy cooking when I get enough time to do.
