Health and Safety Manager - Monaghan

I am currently supporting a leading organisation within the food and manufacturing sector who are seeking a Health and Safety Manager for their Monaghan site. This is a key role that reports directly to the Site Manager and focuses on developing, implementing and maintaining strong Health and Safety systems across the facility.

About the Role

The Health and Safety Manager will take full responsibility for safety management systems on site. You will provide guidance and support to Business Unit Managers, ensure alignment with group safety strategy and lead continuous improvement across all health and safety practices. Collaboration with group H&S support services and regulatory bodies will also be central to this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record and investigate all accidents on site, track trends and prepare reports for Business Unit Managers
  • Drive the ongoing development and implementation of Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Deliver in house training to managers and staff
  • Ensure effective enforcement of Health and Safety practices across all departments
  • Develop training plans and budgets in partnership with the Site Manager
  • Engage proactively with safety personnel and support Risk Management teams
  • Chair Site Safety meetings and provide updates on safety developments
  • Ensure all personnel are fully trained and competent in required safety practices
  • Undertake risk assessments and support managers in completing assessments for site operations
  • Review all risk assessments regularly
  • Implement internal audit processes at site level, track performance and action plans
  • Prepare a monthly written safety report for the Site Manager and H&S team
  • Carry out unscheduled safety audits to ensure compliance with Group policy
  • Identify and report breaches of safety policy to site and group leadership
  • Liaise with the HSA and external agencies in relation to reporting, auditing and compliance recommendations

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years Health and Safety experience, ideally in a food or manufacturing environment
  • H&S Degree or Diploma
  • Experience in delivering training is an advantage
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of safety performance across a busy site
