Hygiene Supervisor
Naas, Co. Kildare | Food Manufacturing
I am currently working with a well established food manufacturing organisation in Co. Kildare who are seeking an experienced Hygiene Supervisor to lead site hygiene operations and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and compliance across the factory.
This is a key leadership role within the hygiene function, working closely with Production, Technical, Maintenance, and Health & Safety teams to ensure effective factory handovers and audit readiness.
The Role
Reporting to the Hygiene Manager, the Hygiene Supervisor will be responsible for:
- Leading, supervising, and developing a team of hygiene operatives
- Delivering daily, weekly, monthly, and annual cleaning schedules in line with production and staffing
- Ensuring strict adherence to cleaning sequences and the Hygiene Management System
- Supervising, auditing, and signing off hygiene activities and documentation
- Managing hygiene labour hours, expenditure, and staff cover
- Ordering, controlling, and managing hygiene chemicals and consumables
- Maintaining cleaning instructions (CICs), SOPs, and hygiene schedules to BRC and customer standards
- Managing COSHH compliance and ensuring all SDS and MSDS documentation is in place
- Conducting internal hygiene audits and inspections
- Managing chemical dosing systems, equipment upkeep, and supplier relationships
- Carrying out ATP, environmental, and pathogen swabbing in line with site schedules
- Supporting microbiological investigations and hygiene improvement projects
- Overseeing cleanliness of staff facilities, offices, and common areas
- Supporting customer and third party audits and representing Hygiene as required
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Conducting COSHH and risk assessments and documenting safe systems of work
- Ensuring hygiene staff are trained, competent, and compliant with all safety procedures
- Managing PPE availability and usage
- Investigating and reporting hazards, incidents, and accidents
- Acting as an active member of the site Health & Safety Committee
The Ideal Background
- Proven experience leading a hygiene team within a food manufacturing environment
- Experience working to BRC or equivalent food safety standards
- Strong understanding of cleaning systems, methodologies, and hygiene chemicals
- Experience driving continuous improvement in site hygiene standards
- Flexible approach to working, including evenings, nights, and occasional weekends
- Experience with audits, compliance, and documentation driven environments
- Strong people management, communication, and organisational skills
- Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel
