The Opportunity

Our client, a leading global biopharmaceutical manufacturer based in Dublin, is seeking a Quality Control (QC) Microbiology Specialist to join their expanding QC Microbiology Laboratory. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects supporting drug substance and drug product manufacturing activities, with a primary focus on Bioburden and Endotoxin testing.

Reporting to the QC Microbiology Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining product quality, ensuring compliance with cGMP, and supporting routine and project-based laboratory operations.




Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process testing of critical lot-related samples to support manufacturing operations.

  • Conduct Bioburden testing on utilities, raw materials, and drug substances within required hold times.

  • Carry out Bacterial Endotoxin Testing (BET) on utilities, drug substances, and drug products.

  • Perform Growth Promotion Testing (GPT) for new media lots and identify microorganisms isolated during testing.

  • Execute compendial verification, method transfer/validation, and routine testing in accordance with cGMP and site procedures.

  • Accurately complete and review all laboratory documentation within required timelines.

  • Investigate alert/action limit excursions following established site procedures.

  • Support cross-functional teams to meet qualification, validation, and production schedules.

  • Contribute to the authoring and review of laboratory SOPs and documentation.

  • Promote and maintain Lean Lab and 6S practices while ensuring a high standard of housekeeping and safety.




Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (Level 8 or equivalent) in Microbiology or a related scientific discipline.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare laboratory.

  • Solid foundation in Microbiology and aseptic technique; sterility testing experience desirable.

  • Prior exposure to Bioburden and Endotoxin testing is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with systems such as LIMS, MODA, CIMS, LES, or Veeva Vault preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high compliance standards in a regulated environment.
