Senior EHS Specialist
Location: High-Volume Manufacturing Site
Contract: 12-month Fixed Term Contract
The Opportunity
We are partnering with a global manufacturing organisation to appoint a Senior EHS Specialist on a 12-month fixed term contract. This is a critical, site-based role with full ownership for the design, implementation and certification of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 within a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will act as the programme owner, leading the end-to-end implementation of both standards, working closely with site leadership and cross-functional teams to embed sustainable EHS systems and behaviours.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the implementation and maintenance of Environmental and Health & Safety Management Systems in line with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements
Act as process owner for the full certification programme, applying ISO PDCA principles to deliver both standards within the 12-month timeframe
Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, standards and work instructions ensuring they are practical, efficient and fit for purpose
Define implementation strategies, scope the organisation appropriately and align legal registers with environmental and safety requirements
Identify environmental and safety risks and ensure robust operational controls are defined and implemented
Deliver EHS training and communication programmes across the site to support engagement and compliance
Establish performance measurement and monitoring systems to track progress and ensure ongoing effectiveness
Lead and support internal audits and oversee Phase 1 and Phase 2 external certification audits
Partner closely with Operations, Facilities, Quality, Materials and Purchasing to ensure effective site-wide execution
Provide regular updates to site EHS and Operations leadership on progress, risks and key milestones
Candidate Profile
Proven experience implementing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards within a manufacturing environment (essential)
Strong background in EHS within a high-volume manufacturing or industrial setting
Experience acting as programme or process owner for EHS management system implementation
Solid understanding of environmental and health & safety legal and regulatory requirements
Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments and define hazard identification and control measures
Experience working with external certification bodies and managing audit processes
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related discipline (preferred)
ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 Lead Auditor qualification (advantageous)
Minimum 5 years' relevant EHS experience
