The Ultimate Guide to a Skype Interview
For many people Skype interviews are unchartered territory, so we created The Ultimate Guide to a Skype Interview for both the interviewer and interviewee.
THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO A SKYPE INTERVIEW
Interviews can be daunting at the best of times, especially if it has been a while since you went through this process, add in the fact you will be doing the interview via camera and on pc and nerves begin to build for some. It’s simple really; a lot of the same rules apply such as dressing professional, being there on time (logged in and online in time) along with the same level of preparation. The interviewer or candidate may not be in the same room but considering your surroundings as if they were is a good start, you wouldn’t interview a candidate/ meet the hiring manager of the company you want to work for in a messy front room?
Simple tips can make all the difference. If you are new to the technology, then get your account setup in advance and practice call friends or contacts already on Skype. This will help your nerves and make you more comfortable about having the interview via Skype . If you are a frequent Skype user, remember than it’s essentially a professional video call facilitating an interview. It is far removed from the calls to friends abroad while curled up on the couch in your pyjamas. You wouldn’t be casual about a face to face interview so keep the same head frame for a Skype interview.
Another small top tip would be simply ensuring you are in a quiet environment, if you live with other people, make sure they know you are on your Skype interview and not to come into the room/ interrupt.
Follow the steps below to ensure you are both well prepared and can get the best outcome from the Skype interview. Good Luck!
