Being honest, I fell into recruitment- I met with a recruiter for a role in Science after completing a degree in Forensic Chemistry and we had a chat about my experience in sales, my technical background and they hired me! It gives me a good mix of both the technical side that I love and also working in a people facing role, where every day is different.
What is your advice for someone starting their career in recruitment?
Be ready for the knockbacks. The most important attribute in recruitment is resilience in my opinion. There will be highs, there will be lows. Stick with it, it’s important to know your area and be an expert on your industry to gain credibility and be successful. It doesn’t happen overnight. But it is worth it.
What is your favourite part of your role?
Making the right match. Particularly on a tricky niche role. I take it as a personal win. Also that every day is different and I’m never bored.
