The EHS Manager is responsible for leading the Environmental Health and Safety function at a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This role involves ensuring effective implementation of health & safety, environmental, security, and sustainability management systems, while promoting and training staff on best practices. The primary focus is on fostering a safety culture, maintaining compliance with regulations, and enhancing EHS performance.

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and nurture a safety culture emphasizing communication, awareness, and best practices.
  • Work towards achieving zero lost time accidents and ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and health legislation.
  • Increase safety awareness among staff through promotion, training, and collaboration with departmental managers.
  • Monitor site EHS performance and maintain the site security program.
  • Contribute to the management of the company's sustainability program.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Health & Safety Management, or related field from a recognized institution. Level 8 is highly desirable.
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent are highly desirable.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of practical experience in environmental, health, and safety management, preferably in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.
  • Strong understanding of Irish environmental, health, and safety regulations, standards, and industry practices.
  • Experience in risk assessments, incident investigations, and implementing control measures.
  • Previous experience in leading environmental compliance programs is highly desirable.
  • Experience in people management or supervisory roles with demonstrated leadership capabilities is desirable.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify hazards and implement solutions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage documentation and reporting.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Empathy and sensitivity towards employees' health and safety concerns.
