Electrical Maintenance Technician - Supervisor

My client is a highly successful global food manufacturer who is looking for an Electrical Maintenance Technician/ Supervisor to come and join their high performing team in their food production Facility. The successful candidate would be responsible for the encouragement and leadership of your team. You will be required to assist in the management of a busy engineering department and ensuring all maintenance and day-to-day activities are carried out in an efficient and effective manner.

The facility is based in the Kildare area.

Your main duties:

  • Maintaining and upgrading safety equipment and mechanisms and responding to unplanned and emergency.
  • Supervising and assisting in maintaining adequate store of spare parts, project work and Troubleshooting using PLC programs (Allen Brady, General Electric, Schneider Electric, etc.).
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance work to production machinery as per manufacturer's specifications.
  • Repair all minor breakdowns electrical and mechanical regardless of bias (electrical or mechanical).
  • Aid in the design, installation of new lines and processes.
  • Work in conjunction with Health & Safety Reps and the Health and Safety Office in Carrying out risk assessments on machinery and daily tasks, leading to recognised safe procedures of work.
  • Liaise with production supervisor/manager during production downtime, and installation work.
  • Use the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to carry out routine work and to record breakdown work associate with equipment, review reports from CMMS and ensure that the preventive maintenance being carried out is relevant and performed in full and on time, ensure that in the event of breakdown that remedial work is expedited and that follow-up actions are taken to prevent reoccurrence.

The skills and background needed:

  • Experience: 3+ years performing maintenance on process equipment (preferably in a FMCG manufacturing environment).
  • PLC/ PC control systems experience.
  • Qualification/Trade in an electrical/engineering related field.
  • Experience working with quality, health and safety departments.
  • Knowledge of machine control diagnostics (motor control systems or process temperature controls a plus) .
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and people management skills.
