Head of R&D (Europe) required for a leading Multi-site Food Manufacturing organisation.

Next Generation are currently recruiting an enthusiastic Head of Research and Development for a multi-site, multi-national, award winning food manufacturing organisation. We are seeking someone who will be responsible for managing a substantial team across the R&D function on behalf of the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the Group R&D strategy and developing a team of R&D Managers and Technologists. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their career in a well established food manufacturing organisation at a senior level. 

This is a permanent position. The role will be based between head office with some flexibility to work from home. Travel to other sites across Europe will be required for this position.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the Group R&D strategy across the business
• Key point of contact for high level customer accounts from an R&D perspective
• Manage multi-site Research and Development teams (20+) to ensure they are trained and a development plan is in place.
• Develop close relationships with external customers and relevant internal functions to include Operations, Technical/Food Safety, Finance and Commercial teams.
• Develop innovation plans to meet market needs in all customers channels and markets
• Support customers on technical issues within the remit of Research and Development
• Liase with sites and functions to support development and implementation of new products

• 5-10 years' experience managing multi-site R&D teams in a food manufacturing setting
• Experience managing high level business relationships with retail customers
• Budget management experience
• Degree qualified in a Food Science discipline, strong knowledge of European food safety and quality standards.
• Proven ability to be able to liaise across a wide range of internal functions and external customers at a senior Level
• Ability to travel within Europe (In line with Govt restrictions)
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
