Production Planner

An established and growing food manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Production Planner to join its Supply Chain team. This is a key role within the operation, responsible for ensuring efficient production scheduling, accurate inventory management, and on-time customer deliveries.

The Role
The Production Planner will develop and manage the master production schedule, balancing customer demand, production capacity, raw material availability, and quality requirements. You will play a critical role in driving operational efficiency and supporting profitable plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
Create and maintain the master production schedule, establishing production sequence and lead times
Ensure customer shipping dates are met in line with order requirements
Update and manage work orders within 24 business hours
Liaise daily with Operations to monitor production progress and resolve scheduling issues
Work closely with Quality to verify formulas, batch sizes, and compliance requirements
Generate daily raw material pull sheets for production
Raise purchase requisitions for raw materials and packaging materials
Monitor and maintain packaging inventory levels
Coordinate with Purchasing and Accounting to ensure accurate inventory postings
Conduct cycle counts of raw materials and finished goods
Support annual physical inventory and assist with internal audit processes
Review completed production batches to ensure yield accuracy and proper inventory movement
Maintain compliance with Food Safety, HACCP, GMP, Sanitation, and Food Defense standards
Skills & Experience Required
Previous experience in Production Planning, Supply Chain, or Inventory Control within a manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of demand planning and forecasting principles
Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
High level of attention to detail and organisational ability
Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
