Job Description: Purchasing Manager

Location: Newry, Northern Ireland

Company Overview: Our client is a leading organisation in the food industry, renowned for its innovative products and commitment to quality. The company is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Purchasing Manager to join its senior leadership team and contribute to the company's ambitious growth plans.

Role Overview: The Purchasing Manager will play a pivotal role in the efficient management and oversight of the company's direct and indirect procurement operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and possess strong expertise in procurement, particularly with commodity-driven items.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the procurement function, including sourcing and purchasing of materials, to ensure the highest quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead and develop a team of 2 within the Purchasing function, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of the company's growth initiatives.
  • Monitor and optimise Purchasing performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and cost savings.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure reliable supply and quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain best practices in supply chain management..
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Purchasing function.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Purchasing/Procurement Manager position within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong expertise in procurement, particularly with commodity-driven items.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing teams.
  • Excellent decision-making and leadership abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
