My client is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Support Engineer to provide technical support and leadership across electrical, controls, instrumentation, life safety, and security systems for large-scale pharmaceutical and life sciences projects. This role will be central to ensuring all design, construction, commissioning, and qualification activities are delivered to the highest technical and regulatory standards.
Main Responsibilities
Act as point person for electrical, controls, instrumentation, and special systems across GMP and non-GMP facilities.
Review and approve all design deliverables, including drawings, datasheets, specifications, and engineering lists.
Provide design support for in-house projects, including calculations, circuit allocation, redlines, and technical documentation.
Oversee electrical and controls drawings such as SLDs, loop drawings, schematics, system architecture, and layouts.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and quality requirements (cGLP/GMP, EHS, global engineering standards, and local codes).
Participate in system design reviews, 3D model reviews, HAZOPs, FATs, SATs, and construction walkdowns.
Lead vendor reviews for electrical and hardwired control packages.
Support bid package development, review, and evaluation of construction bids.
Assist in resolving technical queries, RFIs, and vendor submittals.
Support commissioning, qualification, and validation teams, ensuring systems are ready and compliant.
Contribute to spare parts strategy, maintenance program development, and troubleshooting during startup.
Lead electrical walkdowns and manage punch list closure during mechanical completion and CQV execution.
Coordinate with project groups (design, construction management, CQV, automation, process, operations, maintenance, PMs) to ensure alignment.
Monitor and support scheduling for all electrical systems, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
Experience and Qualifications
Qualified Electrician (FETAC accredited) with industrial background, plus degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry, including design, construction, commissioning, and operation.
Strong knowledge of industrial facility power distribution, generators, UPS systems, lighting, voice/data, fire alarm, earthing/bonding, lightning protection, hazardous areas, and security systems.
Experience with instrumentation, controls, and functional safety.
Skilled in troubleshooting and providing technical support in GMP environments.
Familiarity with electrical engineering codes and industry standards.
Strong communication and leadership skills with proven success in cross-functional collaboration.
Computer literacy in MS Project, AutoCAD, SAP, SharePoint, Visio, and other relevant systems.
Ability to manage competing priorities, maintain project schedules, and drive results.
